What is necessary to solve these issues?
- Fast users adoption: benefits only accrue when users actually change their behavior; also users are not interested in projects that take too long; it distracts them from their real work and inhibits change
- Quick implementation: slow projects distract organizations from their real purpose and delay payback from the project
- Benefits must exceed the cost and the benefits need to be proven: in today’s financial climate new projects must provide a positive return; projects that are vague or uncertain in their return will not and should not get funded
- Clear responsibility for project outcomes: outcomes don’t happen without someone being responsible and accountable; you can’t manage what you can’t measure
